The landscape of electronic music in the UK is in a state of flux - on one hand evolving into commerciality and on the other a slurry of fickle computer driven musicians wafting casually in and out of trends.
Over the course of the past decade, Modles has worked in isolation to craft a blend of more traditional and low fidelity organic sounds into technical arrangements. Highly illusive, his tracks have rarely surfaced from his Bristol-based studio.
His debut EP ‘Cradle’ features four tracks of abstract bass music, splattered with mutilated vocals and melancholy guitar lines. A commentary on the self-medicating youth of post-modern Britain, ‘Cradle’ is lyrically, rhythmically and melodically rich, conceptually ambitious and steeped in metaphor.
